Choliya Paratha, Fresh Green Chickpeas Paratha


          Choliya Paratha, this is the last dish that I made with the fresh green chickpeas ( choliya ) that I had bought, the other two dishes are Choliya Paneer and Choliya Kofta Curry. There are some more dishes that I would love to try out with these chickpeas, but they have to wait till I can get another batch of them. Coming to today's post, it's very simple, we make a mixture with the fresh chickpeas and other spices and use it as a stuffing for these parathas. As usual, serve these parathas with a vegetable curry, some curd, pickle or chutney for a simple and delicious meal..

Need To Have

  • Whole Wheat Flour/Atta - 1 cup
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Fresh Green Chickpeas - 1 cup
  • Garlic - 2 to 3 cloves
  • Ginger - 1" piece
  • Red Chilly Powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander Powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Chopped Coriander Leaves - 1/2 cup
  • Salt to taste

Method


          Peel the chickpeas as shown, wash and keep 1 cup of it.


          Make a soft dough with the flour, turmeric and a little salt, apply some oil, cover and leave it for 20 to 30 minutes.


          In the meantime, let's make the stuffing, grind the chickpeas, garlic and ginger into a coarse paste, remove and keep.


          Heat some oil, reduce the heat completely, add the chilly and coriander powders, mix, then immediately add the ground chickpeas, and salt.


          Keep mixing it till it becomes dry, then add the coriander leaves, mix, remove and cool it.


          Divide the dough and the stuffing into 6 portions.


          Take a ball of the dough, roll it out a little, place the stuffing inside and close the dough. Now dusting some flour, roll it out carefully into discs ( 1/4" thickness ).


          Heat a pan, place the rolled out paratha, cook for half a minute, flip, apply some oil, flip and cook till brown spots appear, then apply some oil on the other side and cook that side too. Remove and serve them warm with some curd, pickle or chutney.


Note
After grinding the chickpeas, if it's dry, then you can just mix in the spice powders and coriander and use, need not put it on the stove.
